Portable band saw mill
Wood-Mizer has introduced a small, portable band saw mill called the LT 15.
The unit weighs 352 kilograms and is powered by a 13 horsepower Kohler gasoline engine.
It saws logs up to 100 centimetres in diametre and three metres in length at a speed of 4.5 m per minute. It can yield up to 70 percent of timber from a log.
Twin bed sections rest on the ground and have an integral leveling system. Extra bed sections can be added to allow sawing of longer logs.
The carriage position is adjusted by a hand crank, which also moves the head to alter board thickness.

Gentle conveyor
D&R Manufacturing has introduced the Darmani Accelerator 1500 belt tube conveyor.
Legumes, corn and many special crops need gentle handling to avoid downgrading the seed coat, but conventional conveyors can be too slow, especially at harvest time.
The accelerator has increased the speed by attaching a suspended flighting, or small auger, at the intake end. It pulls material into the tube and packs it onto the belt without damaging the seed.
This increases capacity to 140 bushels a minute.
The company says that by avoiding crop damage, the conveyor pays for itself.
Also, conveyors last three to five times longer than augers and need less horsepower to operate.
