Seed boot
Two Alberta farmers have developed a new, low-cost, double-shoot seed boot to use on airseeders.
Daryl and Wayne Tuck’s system puts seed and fertilizer side by side at the same depth behind a common cultivator sweep or opener.
By placing the fertilizer at the same depth as the seed, power requirements are not increased as with most double-shoot openers.
The quick change or knock-on style openers allow the operator to vary the tillage type from year to year, field to field or crop to crop.

For a typical operation, a four-inch or wider opener must be used.
When product separation is not needed, such as when banding fertilizer, a narrower opener can be used

Air seeder line
Bourgault has introduced a new line of air seeders.
The 5000 series has tow-behind tanks with capacities from 250 to 440 bushels. Three sizes of tow-between air seeders have capacities of 250 to 350 bu.
The 5000 series has three tanks. The design allows operators to use the system as a two- or three-tank air seeder. In the two-tank configuration, the centre tank can support the front or back tank by using an internal trap door system, eliminating the need for setting a third meter and balancing the outputs.
A new variable speed transmission controls the metering rate. The rate can be adjusted with the standard crank or an optional electric actuator in the cab.
The units have a PDM Plus screw and orifice metering system for accurate metering with small seeds. It has a large flow-through sump for easy tank clean out.
The units can be equipped with a Seed Pro-Tech 99 on-the-go seed treater.
The new monitor simultaneously keeps track of two blowers, three meters, three tank levels and other parameters.

Vehicle equipment
Allied Transmissions of Calgary is distributing items for vehicle safety and performance.
The Safe-T-Loc emergency vehicle safety interlock system for Ford vehicles prevents the shift lever from being pulled out of the park position until the driver deactivates the system.
This deters vehicle theft when the engine is left running.
The Injector Performance Analyzer allows a mechanic to test each injector’s contribution to overall diesel engine performance. With one easy hookup, individual injector performance test can be conducted in the stall or while road testing a vehicle. The unit can diagnose problems with Powerstroke, Navistar and Caterpillar diesel engines.
