Big grass cutter

John Deere expands its rotary cutter line with addition of the MX15 mower designed as a pasture management tool or for farms where larger areas of grass require precision cutting.

The 15 foot wide cutter is aimed at smaller horsepower yard and utility tractors and can cut material up to two inches in diameter. The wings on the mower flex up to 45 degrees above horizontal and down 22 degrees while the unit is in operation. They fold up at 90 degrees for transport.

Denser bales possible

New Holland’s BB9060 and 9080 balers have gone through design improvements that increase bale density.

These include a new door balancer, a lower bale chamber floor and improved processing to refine the top-fill of the bales.

The 9080 got new bale density cylinders. For the whole of the BB9000 series, the knotter design now keeps tension off the twine during bale formation. Improved software allows the unit to feed with greater uniformity and density control.

Automated greasing, a narrower hitch and oil-immersed gearboxes round out the changes.

A better feeder

Polytech of Monticello, Georgia, has released a new feed plate for the Case 1020 combine flex header. The low friction plastic plate replaces the steel unit below the table auger.

The company claims a 60 percent reduction in grain material friction, and improves material flow. Installation of the plates uses the original Case clips. The plates weigh half of replacement carbon or stainless steel models. The poly plates use stainless steel connectors at their seams.
