Teat dip

Alfa Laval Agri has introduced a new post milking teat dip.

The Della-One is a high-viscosity, one percent iodine dip designed to provide protection against mastitis-causing bacteria after milking when the teat canal sphincter is open and vulnerable.

The product stays on the udder. Its germ killing effect is reactivated when the udder is rehydrated as the cow lies in moist bedding, mud or manure. It also contains 12 percent skin conditioners.

For more information write Alfa Laval Agri, 2020 Fisher Dr., Peterborough, Ont., K9J 7B7 or telephone 705-741-3100.

CD hedging help

Mitcon Inc., an agricultural marketing, training and consulting company, has introduced an educational compact disk to help farmers learn the basics of hedging and how to use other marketing tools for grains and oilseeds.

Two years in the making, the CD covers the same information Mitcon has presented in workshops for the past 10 years.

It works through futures and options information on a step-by-step basis. Users work at it when they want and at their own pace, but in total the course takes about 14 hours.

The CD makes extensive use of graphics and audio clips and interactive sections such as quizzes to explain how futures and options fit into a price risk management strategy.

For those who have questions related to the material, Mitcon also offers free fax or on-line internet support and has a chat room on its website where producers can discuss marketing issues among themselves.

To use the CD you must have at a minimum a 486 IBM compatible computer, Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, SVGA color monitor, Sound Blaster compatible sound card and a minimum 2X CD ROM drive.

For more information visit the website at www.mitcon.com or write Mitcon at #234, 2116 – 27th Ave. N.E. Calgary, Alta., T2E 7A6 or phone 403-735-1800.
