Pull-type sprayers

Case IH has two new pull-type sprayers.

The SRX100 and SRX160 models have a rugged chassis and boom, simple and well organized controls and application options to fit individual needs.

The new models are available with either suspended or wheeled booms ranging from 80 to 134 feet and tank capacities of 1,000 or 1,600 gallons.

The new sprayers also feature a high-clearance cart with good stability.

A unique feature on the SRX series sprayers is the exclusive boom suspension system with parallel link design.

Farming Smarter receives financial boost from Alberta government for potato research

Farming Smarter near Lethbridge got a boost to its research equipment, thanks to the Alberta government’s increase in funding for research associations.

The centre pivot suspension system absorbs field shock during operation and keeps the boom straight regardless of fluctuations in the cart.

Case says the booms require little or no adjustment. A standard eight-foot boom breakaway system provides impact protection, and the entire boom assembly folds forward to the transport position to save time and improve safety, especially around overhead power lines. This compact transport position allows for convenient storage.

Windscreens on the SRX100 and SRX160 sprayers keep spray on target and are designed to reduce drift by 86 percent.

The redesigned main tank is sloped forward and back to provide good tank cleanout.

The SRX also features a standard clean water rinse tank along with a main tank rinse nozzle. An optional rinse wand is available for in-field cleanup.

Another key feature is adjustable tire tracking, which allows the operator to match tractor tire tracks and spacing for a variety of different row crops.

Tire options include dual tires and a wheel fender that keeps mud and dirt off sprayer booms and improves the spray pattern behind the wheel. A variety of pump and nozzle configurations are also available, including T-Jet and Combo-Jet nozzle bodies. The SRX can be equipped with single, double and triple nozzle bodies.

Other options include two types of after market auto-height control systems, as well as an optional foam marker.

New herbicide

Simplicity, a cross-spectrum nonresidual Group 2 herbicide, is now registered for grass and broadleaf weed control in wheat in Canada.

The Dow AgroSciences chemical offers wheat growers a package of environmental and agronomic features including tank mix and crop rotation flexibility, low application rates, safety for all varieties of spring wheat and durum and an effective management option for Group 1 resistant wild oats.

Dow AgroSciences claims most growers will require only a simple tank mix with MCPA Ester for excellent overall broadleaf weed control in wheat.

For additional control of hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds, growers can tank mix Simplicity with Frontline, Spectrum, Buctril M or Refine Extra.

Simplicity is available in an 80 acre case.
