Hydraulic oil
Shell Canada has launched a new hydraulic oil that can help industrial companies and equipment operators reduce downtime and improve productivity.
Shell Tellus is designed to extend maintenance intervals, protect equipment and provide flexibility in maintenance and operating schedules. The company said its new formulation reduces corrosion, contamination, sludge buildup, filter blocking and wear that can result in equipment failure and downtime.
Other features include improved oxidative and thermal stability, allowing for improved performance at a wider temperature range.

Hay equipment
Frontier Equipment has developed three new hay management machines: the HM Series 1109; 1209 and 1212 hay mergers.
The high capacity mergers are designed to combine multiple windrows into one even and consistent windrow.
The mergers are available in a nine-foot pull-behind model and in nine or 12-foot hydro-swing, side-pull models. All models use a tough, durable frame designed to stand up to rigorous field conditions. The machines can switch from left to right merging by switching the quick-disconnect hoses.
Head height can be easily adjusted for various crop conditions by removing two pins.
The mergers are also equipped with a heavy-duty 42-inch wide-ribbed cross conveyor that delivers hay quickly and evenly to produce dense, uniform windrows.
Other features include a rear-swivel tail wheel and brake assembly that can be easily adjusted with a single bolt when working in tough field conditions or transporting from one field to another. Replaceable pick-up teeth are made from durable plastic to ensure no metal enters the crop.
Frontier also has extension kits for merging extra-wide cuts. A two-foot extension is available for nine-foot models. The 12-foot model can be upgraded with two-, four- or six-foot folding extensions. All extensions fold hydraulically and shut off when not in use.

Horn fly control
Schering-Plough Animal Health Corp. has released a new pour-on insecticide that controls horn flies on beef cattle and calves.Â
Ultra Saber contains one percent lambdacyhalothrin and five percent piperonyl butoxide, a synergist that improves insecticidal activity.
The horn fly is one of the most significant and economically destructive external parasites in pastured cattle, causing animal blood loss, reduced feed efficiency, lower rates of weight gain and lower milk production.
According to Schering-Plough, field trial results showed Ultra Saber was the most effective treatment for reducing initial and subsequent horn fly populations during the eight-week trial period.
The product also controls lice in beef cattle and calves.Â
Lice infestations, which peak in late winter, cause reduced average daily gains. Infested cows also produce less milk for their calves.
