Disc mower

MacDon has released its R80 new rotary disc mower, available in pull-type and self-propelled models.

The hydraulic drive mowers are designed to speed forage and haying operations and reduce downtime.

The pull-type model features a unique articulated power turn hitch system that allows operators to open fields faster.

The hitch attaches quickly and delivers optimum manoeuvrability while minimizing the side loads put on the back of the tractor.

The improved manoeuvrability allows the operator to turn the tractor more tightly, which makes it possible to open up a field in as little as two passes. The hitch also features a quick-change attachment system that uses either a drawbar attachment or three-point lift arms.

VIDEO: Ag in Motion documentary launches second season

The second season of the the Western Producer’s documentary series about Ag in Motion launched Oct. 8.

Both models feature a high capacity, high efficiency bent axis pump and motor that allows for faster cutting speeds, even under tough harvesting conditions.

The hydraulic drive system also provides overload protection for header components, reducing the likelihood of work interruptions. Unique design features include heat-treated cutting and wear components and separate replaceable guards to protect the cutterbar between the discs.

The R80 also uses fewer moving parts than other disc mowers, reducing maintenance and limiting the chance of breakdowns.

The R80 pull-type is available with a 13-foot cutting width and in 13- or 16-foot cutting widths as a header for MacDon’s new M Series self-propelled windrowers.
