Welding helmets

Hobart Welding Products introduces the XTP professional series of auto-darkening welding helmets with two designs, the Patriot and the Red Rivet.

The XTP series is designed for the sensitive demands of low-amp TIG applications. The helmets darken in 1/16,000 of a second after arc start and feature an internally adjustable auto-darkening shade (#9-13), lens sensitivity and delay controls. The helmets have a 3.81 x 1.85-inch viewing area.

The helmets cost $199 US.

Welding rod protection

The Hobart Brothers P-Pak is designed to ensure long-term, reliable welding performance of its mild steel stick electrodes. Designed to block moisture that can lead to stick electrode damage, the P-Pak is a sturdy, re-sealable plastic package available with 3/32, 1/8 or 5/32 inch diameter electrodes.

“The resealable package keeps moisture out longer than cardboard packages, so welders are assured their stick electrodes are well protected and will always perform to the highest standards,” said Mike Crawford, a product manager for Hobart Brothers.

The package is also easily transportable around any job site and can be reused to protect other stick electrodes that welders may have on hand.

Torch packages

Weldcraft recently announced six new TIG torch packages. They include all the components necessary for TIG welding. Weldcraft offers four packages for air-cooled applications ranging from 150 to 200 amps and two water-cooled torch packages, including either a 250 or 350 amp torch.

Lower amp units are available with rubber cables, while flex cables are available for higher amp applications.

The torch packages each contain a 25 foot power cable and cable cover, a power cable adapter when required and a 15 foot ground cable. They also include water and gas hoses as required, a Smith Equipment flow meter regulator and a welding accessory kit featuring additional nozzles, collets, collet bodies and tungsten.

Anti-surge regulator

Smith Equipment recently released its Optimizer Anti-Surge Flowmeter Regulator, which eliminates costly shielding gas surges that normally occur when a welding operator activates a MIG gun or TIG torch.

The Optimizer can lower end-users’ gas costs by up to 50 percent. Its two-stage anti-surge design provides accurate gas flow and constant outlet pressure to help assure optimum welding performance.

The Optimizer offers a delivery range of up to 70 standard cubic feet per hour and is designed for use with either straight argon shielding gas or an argon-CO2 mixture.
