Tractor line
The Massey Ferguson 8400 series of farm tractors includes four models with horsepower ratings from 180 to 240
pto hp.
The tractors are equipped with SisuDiesel six-cylinder engines with displacement ranging from 7.4 and 8.4 litre and standard electronic engine management to deliver increased torque. They feature a smooth, yet powerful, Dyna-Step trans-mission that has
three ranges and 21 forward speeds.
The transmissions can be shifted with a joystick in the armrest and the shuttle lever and can be equipped with transmission heaters for cold climates.

Irrigation fittings
Roberts Irrigation Products has developed a new tape fitting line that the company said delivers improved performance and ease-of-use over other drip irrigation fittings.
Pro-Grip fittings are designed to make installation and retrieval easy and less time-consuming.
The line includes a range of fittings such as tape couplings, take-offs and transition barbs. To complement the fittings line, Roberts has also launched the new 400 Barb Hole Punch, a tool designed to punch consistent holes in one step.
The Pro-Grip tape fittings and the 400 Barb Hole Punch work with all major brands of drip tape. Special features, such as smooth wings on the body, allow growers to install fittings with less stress on their hands.
Large ridges on the nuts make them easier to tighten and their special design prevents the fittings from coming apart when tightened too hard.
The 400 Barb Hole Punch allows the installer to place the fitting into the sub-main by pushing the tool in at the desired point. The cutting blade reduces the chance of puncturing the back side of the hose, allowing the tool to be used with varying sizes of sub-mains. When used with Pro-Grip and other major brands, the Roberts 400 Barb Hole Punch simplifies the barb installation process by making it a one-step procedure.

Tailgate protection
The TailGateSaver is an attachment designed to protect the tailgate from bending or denting when the truckbed is loaded and the tailgate is down.
Made from aluminum, it weighs 10 pounds and will hold up to 1,260 lb. Because it’s tapered from top to bottom, it is stronger and more durable than square steel tubing.
The TailGateSaver can be clamped to the bed rails of most truck boxes and will help contain awkward or heavy items such as table saws, compressors, planers, barrels, slip tanks, water tanks and other top-heavy cargoes. It also keeps the weight of long loads such as ladders, lumber, gates and scaffolding off the tailgate. It does not impede access to the truck box or interfere with the use of the tailgate. It can be installed in seconds and has no mechanical parts. The aluminum construction prevents rust.

Combines improved
John Deere has updated its 60 Series STS combines to ensure increased threshing performance, improved engine air flow and greater torque in the feederhouse drive.
The rotor on the new 60 series combine is designed with a streamlined “bullet” nose profile, which provides more room upfront, allowing high volumes of crop material to smoothly enter and be evenly distributed.
Rotor power requirements are reduced and material handling is improved by as much as 20 percent in tough, small grain conditions. The smoother crop feeding also reduces rotor growling at high feed rates and allows longer harvesting hours in the field, even in damp conditions.
To process more bushels, a new high torque, variable speed feederhouse drive enables the 60 Series combines to handle greater volumes in higher-yielding crops. Bigger cams with a more aggressive ram angle and a heftier coil spring allow for optimal high torque sensing and deliver 50 percent more clamping load to the drive belt.
Oil capacity in the gearbox has increased 25 percent and grease capacity by more than 300 percent.
These changes are designed to reduce belt slippage, gearbox overheating and belt breakage. The new design improves overall feederhouse performance to ensure even feeding into the threshing system.
With the introduction of larger header equipment and larger separators, growers are concerned about evenly spreading the straw residue for no-till and reduced tillage operations. A new optional PowerCast straw chopper tailboard is available for STS combines to spread material up to 50 feet.
Two hydraulic motors power two, large variable-speed impellers, which engage the residue coming out of the straw chopper and provide a spreading boost to the discharged residue. Spread width is controlled by the operator on-the-go from the combine cab.
Clean air flow is important to overall engine performance. The new STS 60 series combines are designed with a new engine air scoop that provides continuous clean, fresh air to the engine and engine deck compartment. The large scoop is mounted high and pulls cleaner air down through the rotary screen and radiator.
This reduces the cleaning load on the engine rotary screen and the engine air filter.
This cleaner engine cooling environment allows better engine performance and increases the combine’s overall productivity.
Other changes include increased grain tank capacity, larger fuel tanks and new cab lights that improve harvesting visibility at night.
