Raking double
The new Vermeer R-24 TwinRake works in virtually any harvesting system. It cuts field time by as much as 66 percent over single rakes. Raking widths of 5.5-7.4 m (18-24 feet) and windrow widths of .9-1.8 m (three to six feet) are both hydraulically adjustable to accommodate different haying conditions and to match windrow size to different balers and pickup widths. The unit also adjusts to handle various crops, because the basket speed is controlled independently of ground speed. Hydraulic controls switch from field to transport position. The R-24 has a rugged 12.5 X 12.5 cm main frame. Large caster-type wheels help cushion the ride, smooth out turns and maintain the rake’s setting in changing terrain. The matching six-bar baskets are equipped with rubber-mounted tines (120 per basket) which produce up to 25 percent more spring action and reduce tine replacement costs.

4WD utility
Massey Ferguson’s best sellers – the MF 240 (41 horsepower p.t.o.) and the MF 253 (48 hp p.t.o.) are now available in four-wheel drive. The 4WD MF 240 and 253 are the same overall length as their 2WD versions, resulting in a shorter wheelbase for better man-oeuvering. The 4WD engagement clutch is mounted on the centre housing, eliminating the need for a spacer containing the 4WD gears, thus maintaining the short wheelbase. FWD is engaged on-the-go with a T-handle. A parallel drive system is used, keeping the centre of gravity low for stability, without sacrificing ground clearance or turning angles. Both tractors offer a low profile front tire, rather than the high, narrow tires usually found on 4WD tractors in this class.
