Forage blower

New Idea has a new forage blower for tractors with 60 horsepower and up.

Model 1505 has a 59 inch fan with eight blades turning at 540 rpm or 650 rpm with the optional 1,000 rpm pto speed reducer.

The fan is fed by a 14 inch auger driven by two sets of double 5VX-type belts.

The auger drive pulleys are cast iron. A hinged safety shield permits easy access to the main shear bolt and stores spare shear bolts. A large hopper has an easily accessible throw-out clutch and hinged-access doors to the auger drive.

Hitching winch

The Hitch Sling allows a trailer to be hooked to the hitch in one move without the need for someone to direct the driver.

The 8.55 kg device is a small winch that bolts onto the tongue of the trailer. The winch has a strap with a clamp on the end.

The operator draws his vehicle to about a metre from the trailer. He puts the clamp on the vehicle’s hitch ball and uses the winch to pull the trailer to the hitch.

The Hitch Sling is designed to pull the trailer’s tongue above the ball.

The device also includes a steerable wheel that can be lowered and used to wiggle the trailer into position when it is being parked.

The standard model can be installed in less than five minutes with a 3/4 inch wrench.

The Hitch Sling is designed for boat, snowmobile and utility trailers weighing up to 2,700 kg.

For more information, write to Hitch Sling, Box 406, Bentley, Alta., T0C 0J0, phone 866-466-5646, or e-mail ahlquist@telusplanet.net.

Aerial registration

Remedy from Dow AgroSciences has received aerial application registration.

It can be applied by helicopter, fixed-wing aircraft and ground sprayers.

Remedy is a systemic herbicide that controls brush but does not harm grass.

The aerial application allows producers to control the encroachment of aspen, balsam poplar, willow, other trees and brush.

Tank mixes

Aventis CropScience and Dow AgroSciences have a new Puma Virtual Pak.

It is like a prepackaged tank mix, but the herbicides are not actually mixed together.

Farmers buy the approved chemical combinations and get a discount.

The Puma packages include the combination of Puma Super with a variety of broadleaf products including Buctril M, Thumper, Curtail M, Attain and Prestige.
