New tractor line
Agco recently introduced 50 new products and innovations including new mid-range tractors. The new line of Agco Allis tractors features the 8700 series with horsepower from 70 to 110 and the 9700 group with 125 to 145 h.p.
The 8700 units have the option of climate-controlled cabs with double doors. Both 9700 units are equipped with cabs.
The hydraulics have been increased to allow for heavier lifting.
All models are available in either two-wheel or all-wheel drive and have wet multi-disc clutches that are cooled and lubricated in hydraulic oil.

Improved inoculant
Philom Bios has introduced a new rhizobia bacteria strain for its Tag Team inoculant for peas and lentils.
Tag Team is designed to increase the availability of phosphate and nitrogen for pulse crops.
The new rhizobia was identified by Agriculture Canada researcher Wendell Rice, funded by Philom Bios, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and the Alberta Agricultural Research Institute.
The company says the rhizobium works better at fixing nitrogen at cool soil temperatures of eight to 30 C and at soil pH levels of 4.5 to eight. In field trials in Alberta and Saskatchewan in 1996, the new strain increased pea and lentil yield by 13 percent over the standard commercial strain.
