New bed builder
The DMI ecolo-bed’r 2500 provides deep tillage and bed building for vegetable production.
It has 22 inch diameter flat coulters that operate at a uniform depth to cut and part residue and roots. Also, no till and minimum residue disturbance shanks are available.
It comes equipped with a choice of either heavy-duty double-disc bedders or Lister points. The 20 inch diameter outside blades and 18 inch inside blades can be adjusted to tailor the amount of soil movement and type of bed desired. They can create peaked or rounded beds.

Water heater
Gas Solutions Inc. has a new small, energy-saving natural gas water heater designed for agricultural applications.
The Munchkin Stainless Steel high-efficiency heater has up to 97 percent combustion efficiency. It activates only when heat is needed. It tracks the heating load over the season and modulates its firing rate to match the heating requirements of the space.
Its small size and zero-clearance requirement allow it to be installed almost anywhere. It is available in 80,000, 140,000 and 199,000 btu sizes.

Assisted steering system
John Deere has a new assisted steering system that relieves the operator from making constant corrections to keep the tractor in a straight line.
The GreenStar AutoTrac uses the StarFire position receiver and dual frequency differential corrections. After setting the initial pass, the operator presses a button on the console and the system steers the tractor.
Drivers must still turn at the end of each pass and around obstacles.
AutoTrac is now available on 8000 Ten series and 9000 series track tractors and is expected to be on all track models by August 2002.

Water treatment system
Clearwater Enviro Technologies has released a new water treatment system that improves water without chemicals or maintenance.
The copper-silver ionization system releases electrically charged copper and silver ions into water for algae and disease control. ScaleBlaster is an electronic descaler that eliminates scale formation in water lines, misters and sprinkler system nozzles. The unit adds nothing to the water.
