Air Drill

The Maxim III Hoe Air Drill by Morris Industries is designed to give producers more seeding options and more field coverage in a wide variety of terrain and seeding conditions. The drill comes in 40-foot or 60-foot widths with spacings of 7.5, 10 or 12 inches.

The Maxim III has front-mounted angle disc fertilizer coulters for centre placing dry, NH3 or liquid fertilizer between the seed rows. When paired with Morris’ Eight Series Air Cart, the drill offers single, double or triple-shoot capacity.

The drills come with C or edge-on shanks with 400 or 550 pound trips, adjustable on-row packer gangs and a wide selection of openers.

P. 56: Automated steering system

The Trimble AgGPS Autopilot automated steering system is designed for producers who farm on contours or want to follow the lay of their land.

The system calculates the curved swath automatically and drives the swath, all to within inches, after driving and recording the first curve in the field.

Two types of curved patterns have been added: identical curves, created from the first curve driven; and adaptive curves, created from the last path driven. Adaptive curve patterns combine automated steering and obstacle avoidance.

Headlands, like curves, can be used in two different ways: the standard headland patterns or a round pattern to the centre of the field. With the addition of contour farming and headland systems to Trimble’s straight lines and pivot systems, AgGPS Autopilot now offers complete auto guidance solutions to all field situations.

The AgGPS Autopilot system connects to the hydraulic power steering system and automatically steers the tractor to virtually any path.
