Seed treatment unit
Seed treatment right in the field is now possible with the Flexi-Coil seed treatment unit.
Engineered for use with the Flexi-Coil 50, 1330, 1720 and 2320 air carts, the unit is designed to provide safe, accurate and convenient treatment.
Seed treatment products are mixed and carried in a tank on the unit. A positive displacement pump metres the solution into mixing chambers where it coats the seed as it passes through.
The seed is treated right before it goes in the ground, so it is an effective way to get the inoculant on the seed, where it stays. Many fungicides, insecticides and inoculants have been approved for use with the unit and others are being tested.

Rotary cutters
Agco Farmhand brand has introduced a new line of rotary cutters that feature flexing wings.
The RC 1510 and RC 1550 series have a 48-foot cutting width and a folding design that flexes 90 degrees up and 22 degrees down, allowing cutting of banks and ditches.
The units can cut brush up to two inches in diameter and the cutting height can be adjusted from one inch to as high as 15 inches. The units have a recommended minimum 50 p.t.o. horsepower and are available for tractors equipped with 1,000 or 540 rpm p.t.o.s.
They have self-leveling hitches and spring cushioned shock wheel axles. A range of tires is available and single or dual centre wheels are an option.

Snowblower bites deep
A new Manitoba company has developed a snowblower that promises easier, more effective snow clearing.
Ram-Helix of Pilot Mound has produced a patented auger that bites into snow, requiring less power than conventional blowers. The auger has an angled ribbon blade where conventional augers have a straight ribbon blade.
Independent engineers have found the Ram-Helix requires 23-45 percent of the net draft of a conventional snowblower. In other words, the physical effort required to propel a Ram-Helix snowblower would be significantly less than for an identical snowblower with a conventional auger.
The models are available with a seven foot single or eight foot double auger.
