VIDEO: Green Lightning and Nytro Ag win sustainability innovation award

Nytro Ag Corp and Green Lightning recieved an innovation award at Ag in Motion 2025 for the Green Lightning Nitrogen Machine, which converts atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-usable form.

The battery-operated unit has sensors that measure and record temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, rainfall, leaf wetness and wind speed at five minute intervals.

The data can be downloaded to a computer in the field or accessed by phone or radio for remote downloading.

GrowVision software displays models and graphs to allow precise irrigation scheduling and plant management. The software can also predict pest and disease outbreaks in potatoes, tomatoes, sugar beets and some fruit trees.

Straw chopper rotor

Redekop Manufacturing has a new high-performance maximum air velocity combine straw chopper rotor.

The MAV rotor has fans at each end of the rotor and fine cut straight blades in between. The fans provide high velocity air that allows the cut straw to be spread from six metres to more than 12 m, matching wide combine pick-up headers.

Straw management is important in direct seeding systems and the MAV rotor eliminates the need for heavy harrowing.

The straight blades are reversible, providing longer life. Options include serrated and long-life boronized blades.
