New seed treatment
Apron FL seed treatment from Gustafson has full approval for use in Canada on a range of crops.
Before, it had registration for use only by processors in seed exported to the U.S. and the United Kingdom, and for some restricted imports of seed treated with the product, such as sunflowers from the U.S.
Apron FL contains the systemic fungicide metalaxyl, which controls seed rots and seedling blights caused by Pythium fungal species in canola, chick peas, beans, alfalfa, clover, forage, sugar beets and other crops. Apron also controls downy mildew in sunflowers.
The product can provide a boost to traditional treatments like Vitavax rs in canola and Thiram in peas for premium seedling disease control.

No-till air seeder
Flexi-Coil of Saskatoon has introduced the new 6000 no-till air seeder, employing a disc system to achieve precise seed placement.
The drill features the company’s Barton angle disc opener that can penetrate with little down pressure. The 46 centimetre beveled disc blade cuts into the ground, slices trash and lifts the soil, creating a groove for the seed.
A cleaner wheel runs beside the disc to prevent soil from lifting and scattering outside the seed row. A spring- loaded press wheel packs at an angle opposite to the blade angle. It is available in 9.1 and 12.2 metre widths and with a choice of 19 or 25 centimetre spacing. It is designed for use with the company’s 2320, 1720 and 1330 air carts and also the new 50 series air cart.
