Calf chute
7-L Ranch Livestock Equipment builds and sells a portable chute which incorporates a weigh scale for young calves. Calves can be weighed, dehorned and castrated all at once. A curved head bar with friction latch holds the calf’s head, without choking, for accurate dehorning and easier tagging, tattooing and vaccination.
The rear tailgate swings down and latches in several positions, preventing the calf from falling down. Castrating can be done with the tailgate up or down. Wheel height and width are adjustable, allowing for easy movement by hand or towing by an ATV. The chute incorporates a Hanson scale with a modified pointer. Calves up to 162 kg (135 lbs.) can be weighed by pushing a side lever.

One less pass for Avadex
A new label registration for Avadex BW means growers now have the choice of applying the herbicide with one or two tillage operations. The new min-till label calls for growers to apply the granules as early as possible in the spring, using the correct rate for their soil’s organic matter content, and then waiting at least 10 to 14 days before seeding.
One high disturbance pass over the field, prior to seeding or as part of the seeding operation, is usually the only tillage needed to activate the product.
Farmers who want to ensure good soil-to-granule contact in heavy trash (more than 75 percent) can harrow to evenly spread the straw and chaff around the field. Extra moisture that is available in minimum till fields allows for better herbicide activity, eliminating the need for a second incorporation.
