Radiant heaters
Space-Ray of Charlotte, N.C. has introduced a series of compact, infrared gas tube heaters that are available in natural gas or propane models. Based on radiant heat technology, the 2.8-metre-long heaters can be used to efficiently heat residential garages, workshops, vestibules, enclosed patios, greenhouses and barns.
The heaters can be mounted at heights ranging from 1.8-6.2 m above the floor and angle-mounted up to 45 degrees to conform to room dimensions. Monitoring lights on the burner allow for easy maintenance. The heaters can be equipped with an optional space thermostat. Heaters come in a smooth, cast-iron U-Tube design for uniform heat distribution and in four capacities ranging from 20,000 – 50,000 BTU/hr. Its unitized design lowers installation and maintenance costs. For mounting heights of 1.8-2.5 m, an optional low-mounting kit with emitter guards is available. Heaters must be vented to the outside with a flue pipe.

Welding shields
Hornell Speedglas Inc. has introduced the AP, a welding lens that darkens automatically com-bined with a lightweight helmet. The lens changes from shade three to shade 10 based on three independent detectors when an arc is struck, providing welders with constant vision during MIG and stick welding.
The helmet is made from Zytel nylon, with an adjustable, ratcheted headband. Ultraviolet and infrared radiation protection is constant at shade 13, even when the lens is in the light state.
Developed for heavy industrial use, the lenses are becoming more popular for non-industrial applications such as auto racing, agricultural and hobby welding.
