Case combines

The new axial-flow combines from Case IH with the AFX rotor have

increased productivity by as much as 25 percent from previous models

Graduated pitch inlet flights move crop from the feeder to the rotor

cage. This design creates smoother, more consistent flow of material

from the feeder to the threshing and separating areas.

The rasp bar configuration has also been redesigned to provide more

grain on grain threshing, resulting in reduced wear on threshing

components and reduced horsepower requirements.

The AFX rotor can be retrofitted into late model 1688, 2188 and 2388

axial-flow combines.

An upgraded rotor drive helps maintain constant rotor speed in varying

crop conditions. It has larger rotor drive pulleys, along with a

spliceless rotor drive belt to improve the belt’s reliability and

service life.

With the updated Case IH Advanced Farming System Universal Display

Plus, operators can see moisture and yield maps develop as they travel

through their fields.

The rotary air screen features replaceable wire cloth mesh panels,

instead of the previous punched hole configuration, resulting in

improved air flow to the cooling system. Also, the radial seal for the

screen is now made of a composite rubber that is more effective in

preventing trash ingestion around the screen.

Other key features found in 2003 axial-flow models include 10

additional horsepower on 2366 combines with a new air-to-air,

aftercooled engine. They also include a new operator seat with

adjustable left-hand armrest.

Case sprayer

The new SPX3200 sprayer from Case IH has a larger tank, longer

wheelbase, front disc brakes and a redesigned service centre

The 800 gallon, stainless steel tank creates a lower centre of gravity

for the sprayer – just 28 inches above the frame – for better vehicle

performance.

The wheelbase was also increased by 21 inches to improve ride and field

stability.

With front disc brakes, the SPX3200 has more than twice the stopping

power.

The new, user-friendly filling-tendering centre is accessible on the

left side of the machine.

The sprayer is powered by a Case IH 5.9 litre, six-cylinder

turbocharged engine, rated at 200 horsepower with 600 ft./lb. of peak

torque and a road speed of 50 km-h.

The SPX3200 is available with 80- or 90-foot, self-centering booms.

Spraying systems

Great Plains has added two lines of farm spraying systems to its

lineup. The TS Series includes a 800 gallon trailer sprayer equipped

with an 80- or 90-foot, front fold boom.

The boom is capable of spraying a 60-foot swath or the full 80 or 90

feet. The level float boom is on a vertical spring suspension in a 42

inch hydraulic elevator. The boom is also stabilized with gas shocks

and dampening springs for side stability.

The hydraulic fold and individual wing tilt are controlled through a

seven function valve connected to a single hydraulic outlet. There is

also a five-section boom control using a Raven 450 automatic rate

control and triple nozzle bodies.
