All season waterer
Frostfree Nosepumps are a year-round way to water livestock without the need for electricity or heat.
The system uses ground heat and a pump pushed by the cow’s nose. The waterer includes a small, enclosed trough with a nose pump, which is a lever attached to a piston pump.
This is set on top of a galvanized steel culvert, set vertically into the ground. The culvert can be installed in a well or linked by trench to a dugout.
Each time the cow pushes the lever, water is raised. Water standing in the pipe drains back, preventing freezing in winter. A short riser nipple in the trough prevents contamination of the well.
At extreme temperatures, it may be necessary to remove ice that builds up on the sides of the hood.
The unit can water up to 135 cows in winter and 65-70 cows in summer.
