VIDEO: Ag in Motion documentary launches second season
The second season of the the Western Producer’s documentary series about Ag in Motion launched Oct. 8.
Space-Ray’s direct spark ignition radiant gas brooder for poultry barns is designed to save fuel.
The brooder uses a spark ignition instead of a standing pilot light.
The company says that a barn using 14 heaters would save 22 litres of fuel every 24 hours.
Available in natural gas or propane models, the 40,000 btu per hour heaters feature a broad heat pattern. They have a 60 degree emitter angle that aims the heat at the birds, warming the brooding area and keeping the litter dry.
The burner assembly has a cast iron cap with large burner ports for even heat distribution.
They can be used in single or multi-zone installations. Each brooder requires a 24-volt power supply. Thermostats, a computer or an environmental controller can control the multi-zone operations.
