All-purpose tractor

New Holland has introduced new all-purpose TN tractors from 42 to 62 PTO h.p.

All TNs have New Holland-Iveco engines with three cylinders, 179 cubic inch displacement and rated power at 2300 r.p.m.

There is a choice of five transmissions. They use tandem-gear hydraulic pumps. The standard 12.4 gpm pump powers the remote valves and three-point lift systems. A second pump supplies oil for power steering and transmission lubrication. New Holland’s model 32LA front-end loader was specially designed to fit TN tractors.

New registration

Dow AgroSciences has received registration for Attain and Curtail M as separate tank-mix partners with Cyanamid’s Assert for better weed control, including Group 2 resistant wild oats.

The Attain-Assert mix is registered for use in barley and spring wheat, but not durum.

The Curtail M-Assert mix, already registered for use in hard red spring wheat, is now approved for durum and barley.

Sprayer

Case has introduced a new class three sprayer.

The SPX 3200B is powered by a Case 5.9 litre, turbocharged and after-cooled engine rated at 200 h.p. with 600 foot-pounds of peak torque.

The frame uses rectangular-closed cross sections of three by eight by one-quarter inches in the frame rails and eight by 10 by one-quarter in the axle tubes.

It has an aircraft-style trailing link suspension.

The unit’s variable displacement tandem pump and two-speed motor design provides a three-speed range selection, optimizing control of available power and torque with a top speed of 50 km-h.

Rotary cutters

John Deere has introduced seven new rotary cutters that feature double-deck design providing extra strength, improved cutting performance and reduced rust on the top deck.

They come in widths from 1.5 to 4.3 metres (five to 14 feet) and cutting heights from 2.5 to 30.5 centimetres (one to 12 inches). The top deck is rounded to allow debris to fall off.

Stiffeners are mounted between the decks to allow for a smooth underside and uninterrupted airflow.

There are five mid-range cutters designed for grass, pasture weeds or light brush.

The two heavy duty models are for cutting in fields with rocks, stumps or high-residue crops.

All have heat-treated suction blades that provide greater lift when cutting heavy material.
