Air drill

The new Great Plains 2250 air drill hooks directly to the cart, allowing easier manoeuvering. Underframe clearance of 76 centimetres (2.5 feet) allows for seeding into stubble and heavy residue. Options include: Three or four ranks of openers, with fertilizer coulters available on the four-rank implement; a variety of openers, including one capable of double-shooting. The drill features two bins, with a capacity of 250 bushels. Single-point depth control sets the planting depth for the entire drill and a star-wheel metering system regulates seed flow. An optional auger speeds loading and unloading of the bin. The drill is available in 10.4 and 13.8 metre widths. It folds to 6.1 m for transport.

Cattle waterer

Ritchie Industries has introduced the Omnifount 500, a waterer that combines the best features of electric and electric-free fountains. It is suitable for operations where corrosion is a problem. The fountain’s casing and frame are built of roto-cast polyethylene plastic.

Foam insulation is sealed inside the fountain. Troughs are available in painted steel or stainless steel. The fountain is standard with electric heat and a supply-line heater protects water flow. Additional protection of the supply line can be provided by Ritchie’s thermal tube.

Earth/ice auger

Stihl has introduced the BT 106C, an earth/ice auger equipped with a safety brake. If the auger comes into contact with something it cannot drill, the operator activates the Quickstop lever by pressing backward against his or her thigh. Once the brake is triggered, the auger stops.

The auger can be started with the safety brake engaged, which is another safety feature. The one-operator auger is designed to drill holes up to 20 cm in diameter. Without the auger bit, the BT 106C weights 7.5 kg and is powered by a 35 cc engine. Other features include double-gear reduction for improved torque, electronic ignition, multifunction handle, optional shaft extension and supplemental bits.
