Bale processor
Vermeer has introduced the Top Gun, a bale processor that blows a thick, odor-insulating layer atop mature lagoons. Typically, a 53 x 183 metre (175 x 600 foot) lagoon needs 80 to 100 round bales to seal in odor. With a processing time of about five minutes per bale, a lagoon can be treated in one day.
Hydraulic feed rollers turn the round bales in either direction and help process up to a tonne of hay in five minutes. The bales are shredded by tempered spring steel flails, mounted onto a precision balanced p.t.o.- powered drum. Cutting lengths are adjustable .

The operation can be handled hydraulically, from the tractor seat. The 1.5 metre diameter belt-driven blower shoots the straw up to 30 m (100 ft.) through a gun spout. The minimum power requirement is 150 hp., 1,000 r.p.m., dual hydraulics, 2,000 p.s.i . and 12 VDC power source.

New tractor lines
John Deere has introduced several new tractor lines.
The tracked 9000T series line features 12.5 litre Powertech engines delivering 360 horsepower in the 9300 T line and 425 hp. in the 9400 T line.
The spread between treads is 270 centimetres (106 inches). The wheelbase is 280 cm (111 in.) long and the 152 cm (60 in.) drive wheel reduces track slippage. There are two track sizes: 76 cm (30 in.) and 91 cm (36 in.)
The units have features also found on the 9000 series four-wheel-drive tractors, such as CommandArm armrest controls, high-capacity TouchSet hydraulic system that delivers up to 44 gpm pump flow and 24-speed PowrSync transmission.
8000T line
John Deere has also launched a new 165-235 horsepower series called the 8000T.
In addition to increases in horsepower, the hydraulic pump capacity is up by 11 percent.
There is an automatic tractor shutdown feature, and a new p.t.o.. brake engagement. Also enhanced is cab and seat comfort.
The new implement management system lets an operator control as many as 12 functions simultaneously with the push of a button. The automatic power shift maintains the most productive gear based on engine load, throttle setting and gear selection.
The units are available in either tire or track configurations.

Square balers
New Holland has two new big square balers with new drivelines and other features.
The BB940 makes 88 x 80 centimetre (34.5 x 31.5 inch) bales up to 250 cm (98 in.) long while the BB960 makes 88 x 120 cm (34.5 x 47.2 in.) bales, also up to 250 cm long.
They can bale silage as well as hay and straw and are equipped with bigger tires than previous models.
An InfoView monitor and control system with auto diagnostics is mounted inside the tractor cab.
The packer-cutter system slices and packs crop for better compaction. The quick-adjust stuffer with crop sensor plates enhances full, square bale formation in almost any crop.
