Sealing wheels
Yetter is offering a new option for its 2920 series deep placement coulter. Rubber sealing wheels close the narrow strip left by the fertilizer knife to seal in anhydrous or liquid fertilizer.
As the 50-cm coulter blade cuts through residue, it fractures the soil, allowing the knife to ride in a deep slot to save wear. The narrow coulter and knife design won’t explode the soil, which limits loss of anhydrous. The rubber sealing wheels feature a down-pressure spring and one-pin depth adjustment so the operator can control the amount of downforce for sealing. The wheels seal well enough to allow operation at a shallower depth and reduce fuel consumption. The fertilizer knife shank and knife are mounted directly to the coulter, which swivels in either direction as it encounters rocks or other obstacles. Atlas harrow
Farnam has re-designed its traditional harrow. The new model called Atlas harrows, drags, smooths, floats and loosens soil.
The front and rear sections can be independently adjusted, allowing two jobs to be completed in one pass. Raking action works fertilizer, seeds and organic matter directly into the soil while scattering manure evenly.
At the same time, dead forage is removed, allowing better water, air and nitrogen penetration. A three-stand hitch is designed to take extra strain and the drawbar is built with heavy-duty tubular steel. High-carbon steel teeth won’t spread apart at the centre.
The harrow is available in widths from 1.2 to 7.4 metres (four to 24 feet). Contact: Farnam Companies Inc., Equipment Division, 301 W. Osborn, P.O. Box 34820, Phoenix, Ariz., 85013-3928; tel. 602-285-1660; fax. 602-285-1803.
