Software for dairy farms
Agpro Software Inc. has introduced three computer programs written specifically for use in the Canadian dairy industry.
Dairyman is a complete dairy herd management system. It maintains cow records for heats, breeding, health, veterinary checks, dry-off, calving, embryo transfer and dispersal.
It tracks semen inventory and has a four-generation pedigree for all herd animals. Reporting features, including Holstein Canada approved reports, are available such as daily-weekly action list, direct offspring family tree, DHI lists and complete veterinary check history.

Dead hog wagon
Dura-Weld has introduced the Hog Hearse, a unit that allows dead sows to be winched from their crates for removal.
The wagon has a 900 pound winch and galvanized aircraft cable used to pull the sow onto the wagon and balance it.
It has four-ply pneumatic tires. Color choices are red, green or blue and a stainless steel cable is optional.

Navigation system
Springhill Engineering has introduced the AIM Navigation System, a field guidance, mapping and data collection system for precision agriculture.
It includes a Pentium 133 processor with Windows 95 operating system.
It has a daylight readable color display, key pad, mouse and a lightbar for guidance.
The unit accepts data from most differential corrected GPS receivers.
For applications involving guidance, a sub-meter DGPS receiver operating at two Hz is needed.
The system was designed for Case Tyler which has the distribution rights.

New sprayer
Case has introduced a new sprayer, the SPX 4260 Patriot.
The unit has a 260 hp engine and a 4,542.5 litre tank.
It has an AIM Command Spray System to control droplet size and reduce chemical drift. It allows pressure to be controlled independently of flow and flow to be controlled independently of pressure.
The Case-Cummins 8.3 litre engine has 825 foot-pounds of torque and allows road speeds up to about 50 km-h.
The modular, self-centering, floater-style folding boom comes in 18.3 and 27.5 metre (60 and 90 foot) lengths.
It has a several options including all-wheel steering, active suspension and a traction package.
