Tractor grapple

ImpleMax Equipment Co., of Bozeman, Mont., has introduced a line of tractor grapples that can turn a standard farm tractor into a logging machine.

The grapple was designed for farmers, ranchers and others who want to manage their land and supplement their regular income through part-time logging.

The grapple is constructed with lightweight, durable T1 steel. Its tongs can grasp a single log or group of logs from 7.6 to 76.2 cm in diameter. The grapple can be used instead of skidding machinery and winch systems that require each log to be cabled and can be easily manoeuvred around and in between standing trees. The tongs and lift are controlled by auxiliary hydraulic circuits which are standard on most tractors. The grapple can be installed on tractors with a Category I and II three-point hitch.

Two models are available, fitting a range of tractors from 25 to 110 hp. Both feature a built-in heeling bar that allows the operator to lift loads clear of the ground, back up, turn at right angles and place loads where they’re needed – in stacks or on sawmills. The grapple is controlled from inside the cab, so the operator doesn’t need to dismount to handle materials.
