Insect control
Crystal Spring Hog Equipment is distributing the Mosquito Magnet, a new
system designed to get rid of mosquitoes, black flies and other
blood-seeking insects.
It attracts only the biting female insects by emitting carbon dioxide
and water vapour in a manner similar to a human or other animal.
The insects are drawn to the carbon dioxide plume and vacuumed into a
net where they dehydrate.
The unit is powered by propane.
The manufacturer says the unit, developed with input from the United
States Department of Agriculture and several state departments of
environmental management, will control biting insects in a one-acre
area.

Chickpea desiccant
Reglone desiccant has received registration for use on chickpeas.
The registration, which has arrived in time for harvest, applies to
ground application only.
It can be used to help manage uneven maturity and control weeds. The
product allows growers to even out maturity by initiating dry down when
they see that the majority of pods are ripe and ready to harvest.
