Digital tester

Farmex, Inc. has introduced the Moisture Master, a 15-grain tester that provides digital displays for crop including wheat, corn, soybeans, oats, barley, canola flax, rye and sunflowers. Each grain scale can be independently adjusted to agree more closely with each user’s local elevator.

The unit remembers each grain’s adjusted calibrations, even if the battery is removed. Two temperature circuits monitor the grain sample and test cell, with the tester automatically compensating for temperature variables.

The tester can display the cell temperature at any time. A limit indicator tells the user if the sample is too dry, wet, cold or hot for testing. Contact: Farmex, Inc., 1200 Danner Drive, Aurora, Ohio., 44202; tel. 1-800-821-9542; fax. 216-562-7403.

Built-in grinder

The Supertech GM 2000 portable grain moisture tester has a built-in grinder to accurately and consistently measure the moisture content of grain samples. Built-in measuring cups eliminate the need to weigh samples.

Because the material is ground before testing, it is possible to test grain hot from the dryer. Supertech GM 2000 does not need calibration to compensate for changes in grain texture caused by local conditions, but a device is built-in to allow readings to be calibrated to a local elevator if desired.

The unit features automatic temperature compensation and a built-in battery check. It comes with a standard nine-volt battery and a steel cleaning brush. The unit gives direct readings on wheat, corn, soybeans, canola, oats, barley, rye, sunflowers and peas.

The Accu-Sampler mounts on an auger, allowing farmers to collect a representative sample of grain while filling a bin, discharging a bin and drying grain.

The device is adjustable from completely closed to a 2.5 centimetre sample hole. It mounts on any 15-33 cm auger with stainless steel clamps that hold the neoprene gasket and galvanized sampler about 55 degrees off the bottom of the auger tube.

While grain moves through the auger, a continuous stream is collected, allowing for an accurate sample of between 20 and 40 litres from each bin. After thorough mixing, the sample is ready to labeled, divided and stored.
