Better tires

Goodyear’s DT710 tubeless radial farm tire is a computer-aided design that has better traction, longer wear and an improved ride. The risk of tube pinching or chafing is eliminated — which often produces a flat. A flexible, radial sidewall and a distinct tread pattern provides more lug contact to the soil. Downtime due to punctures is minimized because the tire can often be serviced while still on the tractor.

Raspberry harvester

The Samson raspberry harvester, from Somerset Fruit Machinery, is a self-propelled straddle harvester powered by a four-cylinder, air-cooled diesel engine which, through a series of five pumps, drives the transmission and all other hydraulic systems.

Basing the harvester on a tractor-power-unit design with a pivoting front axle ensures good traction and steering with the added advantage of providing stability for operators at the rear of the machine. Removal of the fruit is achieved by the four shaker drums designed to ensure the amplitude and force available are sufficient to remove only the ripe fruit. Tines are individually clamped within the tine rings for reliability and easier installation. Fruit loss is kept to a minimum by the use of either fish plates or inclined guide boards.

For visibility and control, the driver is seated at the front of the machine. A safety stop button immediately stops the machine and all its systems, while simultaneously engaging the wheel brakes. Two speed ranges are provided: 0 to 8 kilometres per hour for harvesting and 0 to 16 km/h for road use. Daily fuel consumption is around 30 litres. Enquiries from prospective Canadian agents are welcomed.

Economical fans

Aerotech’s low-cost, wood-crate grower fans are available with a galvanized steel housing to provide greater durability and efficiency. The 36-inch direct drive and 36 and 48-inch belt drive fans feature aerodynamic, galvanized steel propellers, spun orifices and crate-type housings with wire inlet and exhaust guards.

Support hooks are included so fans can be suspended from the ceiling to stir and move air within buildings. They are also available with fibreglass housings and polymer-coated propellers for corrosive environments.
