Longer auger

A 91-foot (27.3 metre) auger is the latest release for Westfield Industries.

The PTO-driven unit comes in 10-inch and 13-inch (25 and 33 centimetre) models, and is designed with heavy-duty components, undercarriage and structural support.

The MK91 has a dual cylinder lift system that requires one gallon (four litres) of hydraulic fluid. It raises to a height of 59 feet, six inches (17.85 metres) and its top-mounted trussing and design improves bin eave clearance.

The auger has been tested at 10,000 bushels per hour.

Horse lemonade

Perform ‘n Win is a water and electrolyte replacer for horses that was developed by University of Guelph researchers and Buckeye Feeds Inc. of Ohio.

The supplement is designed to replace the sweat losses unique to exercising horses, and is being described by developers as “Gatorade for horses.”

Tests show the use of the supplement resulted in a 22.7 percent increase in time-to-fatigue when used before exercise, and horses were able to work longer before becoming tired.

Plans are under way to make the product available in Canada.
