GPS steering system

Accutrak’s AccuSteering system maximizes the value of global positioning systems.

The system has two parts. The electronic control unit makes navigation decisions based on information supplied by a GPS unit.

The navigation information is sent to the hydraulic system tied into the vehicle’s steering line.

The system steers along parallel lines, eliminating overlap and reducing operator fatigue. The operator’s attention is needed only to turn at the headlands and to steer around obstacles.

The steering accuracy is good enough to drive the vehicle within the wheel tracks of the previous pass.

VIDEO: Green Lightning and Nytro Ag win sustainability innovation award

Nytro Ag Corp and Green Lightning recieved an innovation award at Ag in Motion 2025 for the Green Lightning Nitrogen Machine, which converts atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-usable form.

The hydraulic system can be installed on several vehicles and the control unit can be transferred easily as needed.

There are two versions of the control unit. The AX4 will work with most GPS systems and the OB3 is designed specifically for use with the Outback GPS.

Bale processor

The Balemax 1400 is a right side bale processor from Rem Manufacturing Ltd.

It handles all types and sizes of round bales including lentil silage, brome grass, crested wheat grass, alfalfa, straw and peas.

The 32 sickle knives provide a fine and gentle cut that allows the leaves to stay on the stem, resulting in more palatable feed.

Operation can range from gently unrolling the bale to aggressive cutting.

The powered and sloped bed floor consists of a triple chain drive with aggressive bale teeth so feed goes where it is intended and spillage is minimized.

The bed floor features replaceable chain wear strips to prolong the life of the chain drive.

The compact, low profile design makes it appropriate for windrow placement and bunk feeding. Although not designed as a spreading machine, it can be used to evenly lay bedding at short distances and in confined spaces such as corals.

Hopper mover

Buhler Manufacturing has introduced the Hopper Mover as an option on its Backsaver line of swing-away augers.

The Hopper Mover has two hydraulically powered wheels on the hopper that eliminate the strain of positioning the hopper in sandy or rough ground. The unit does not interfere with lifting the hopper into the transport or storage position. There are easy access ports for servicing.

For more information, contact a Buhler dealer or phone 888-524-1003.

Mineral absorber

Zeolite is a natural mineral some-times called nature’s blotter or sieve. It was produced eons ago from volcanic ash and holds chemicals including potassium, calcium and magnesium.

The structure of its crystals makes it extremely absorptive. It has sev-eral applications in agriculture, from absorbing smells in barns to amending soils. Koyote Industries of Kamloops, B.C., mines and markets the mineral.

It can be used in barns in place of sawdust or wood chips. It absorbs ammonia and nitrate and, when added to bedding at a rate of 10 percent, it will absorb odours and liquids.

When cleaned from the barn, the material is rich in nutrients and can be applied to soil as a fertilizer where the zeolite slowly releases the nutrients.
