Feed mixer
John Deere has added three mixed ration feed mixers to its line of livestock equipment. The trailer-mounted model 127, 135 and 152 mixers have a capacity of 270, 350 and 520 cubic feet respectively.
The largest model is also available in an optional truck-mounted version.
The mixers have a slow-turning rotor that mixes feed ingredients and directs the material to a top auger that delivers to the rear and a bottom auger that moves material forward to a hydraulic discharge door.
This arrangement ensures thorough end-to-end mixing, which makes for consistent rations.

The standard three-bar rotor mixes hay into the ration. A wiper on one of the bars cleans out the bottom of the tank as material is delivered to the bottom auger. All three bars are spring-loaded and designed to ride over
obstructions.
Handling heavy rations
For heavy rations, a five-bar rotor with a wiper on each blade is available.
The combination of rotor and two augers mixes feed quickly with less power and less crushing, while the position of the bottom auger provides gravity unloading from a point high enough to serve most feed bunks without using an elevating device.
Magnets in the chute trap foreign material.
The discharge door and chute can be operated at the same time or independently.
An optional electronic scale is available, as is an optional hay processor.
A 540-rpm p.t.o. drive is standard on the trailer-mounted mixers. A 1,000-rpm p.to. is also available.
