Bale wagon

East Bruce Manufacturing has introduced a round bale hauling wagon for those who still like to use

horses around the farm.

The Teamster Bale Wagon loads, carries and unloads up to five bales at a time. The bales are loaded with a hydraulically operated arm powered by an on-board, electric start 13 horsepower motor.

As each bale is loaded, a 6.5 foot long hydraulic ram pushes the bale into position.

The hydraulic valves for the loading arm and push bar are operated by foot pedals designed to leave hands free to drive the horses.

Oil pan heater

Block heaters are the conventional method of helping vehicles start in sub-zero temperatures. But Diesel Services Group of Saskatoon suggests oil pan heaters can reduce engine wear in cold weather.

The company says conventional block heaters warm the top half of the engine, but leave the oil pan and oil cold. All engines have a certain amount of cylinder pressure leakage past the piston rings. These vapors contain water and sulphuric trioxide.

The vapors get in the oil pan, condense and form sulphuric acid which is pumped through the engine, damaging bearings and other components.

With the use of an oil pan heater, vapors do not condense and the oil is uncontaminated.
