Monitoring system

Homesight Solution by Motorola can be used to monitor feed systems, freezers, water levels, air temperature and security breaches through doors and windows.

The system comprises cameras, sensors and software to monitor conditions from a desktop computer. While users are away, they can receive updates on a mobile phone or by e-mail.

The systems can be customized to include a variety of components. For example, cameras can be used to monitor any area of the farm or ranch and can provide live images and streaming video of buildings, pastures and gates.

VIDEO: Green Lightning and Nytro Ag win sustainability innovation award

Nytro Ag Corp and Green Lightning recieved an innovation award at Ag in Motion 2025 for the Green Lightning Nitrogen Machine, which converts atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-usable form.

Temperature and water sensors can be installed to monitor air conditioning or freezer malfunctions, or to determine if water levels in troughs are too high or too low.

The systems can also monitor temperatures in animal pens and incubation areas.

Window and door sensors can warn users when an animal has kicked open a barn door or when an intruder has entered a building. Power controllers can be installed to turn on lights at pre-determined times.

Flow divider

John Blue has introduced a new anhydrous ammonia flow divider called Impellicone.

The divider distributes ammonia to multiple rows across an applicator. Impellicone’s name comes from the unique shaped needle, which spins and mixes the gas and liquid phases, distributing them evenly to the required number of outlets. It can be used for all ammonia applications at normal rates, while also offering the flexibility to plug unused outlets without sacrificing accuracy.

The high degree of accuracy allows for better control of targeted rates, reducing the over-application of ammonia. This will result in less nitrogen leaching, reduced yield variability and lower overall application costs.

There are two models: the IP-1300 13-port flow divider and the IP-1800 18-port flow divider.

Hay rakes

Kuhn Farm Machinery has expanded its line of side and centre delivery rotary hay rakes.

The GA9321 centre delivery model has two 13-foot rotors with 15 tine arms on each and can be adjusted for working widths of 28 to 30.5 feet.

The hydraulically driven rotors are filled with semi-fluid grease and are designed to be maintenance free. The machine also has a patented 3-D suspension system that provides good rotor guidance and minimal scraping. Rake functions can be controlled electronically from the cab.

Other models include the GA6522 and GA7822 twin-rotor side delivery models that deliver hay into single or double windrow configurations and can be adjusted for working widths from 12.5 to 25.5 feet. These models are designed to offer exceptional maneuverability and are specifically adapted to lower-horsepower tractors.

The GA15021, Kuhn’s largest rotary rake, is a four-rotor model designed for large haying operations. With a maximum working width of more than 48 feet and swath widths as large as eight feet, two inches, the GA15021 is equipped with a hydraulic rotor drive, 3-D suspension, four-wheel undercarriages and high clearance to minimize crop disturbance. In transport position, the rake width can be reduced to nine feet, 10 inches.
