Log splitter

Bachtold has introduced a new log splitter for the occasional user. The units are powered by electricity or gasoline motor.

The log tray can hold up to 90 kilograms and accommodates logs up to 53 centimetres long. It extends and retracts with a hydraulic cylinder, carrying the unsplit portion of the log back to be repositioned for the next cut.

The splitting wedge, rail-mounted on an angle, combined with high pressure ratings, means the 11 tonne splitter’s performance is more like a 14.5 tonne unit.

Skid steer loaders

Bobcat has introduced two new lines of skid steer loaders. The 773 G-Series has a 46 horsepower Kubota diesel engine providing 11 percent better hydraulic flow at 16.7 gallons per minute. A new high flow option provides 123 litres per minute and 3,000 pounds per square inch to power attachments such as snowblowers and planers.

The standard 773-G has a capacity of 786 kilograms and a 23 (U.S.) gal. fuel tank. There is also a new cab with better visibility and improved instrumentation.

The larger 863 and 873 G series has a new vertical-path lift arm, which is designed for better operator visibility and uses thicker steel and larger diameter rear pivot pins to improve durability and decrease lift arm side movement by 40 percent. It is powered by a 73-horsepower Deutz diesel engine. These units also have the improved cab.

Grassy weed control

Liberty Link canola growers have two new options for improved grassy weed control.

BASF has received registration to tank mix Poast Ultra with Liberty herbicide.

The mix is designed to provide more consistent control of volunteer barley and wheat, wild oats and annual grasses.

Poast Ultra can be used at the reduced rate of 80 acres per case. Because Poast Ultra plus Liberty can be applied from the one to six true leaf stage, it is appropriate for heavy grass pressure or where growers need a wider application window.

For more information, contact a BASF dealer or call 877-371-2273.

AgrEvo has received registration for a tank mix of Liberty and Select for use on Liberty Link canola.

Grassy weed herbicide Select can be added at a rate of 25 millilitres per acre. The ideal timing for this mix is at the one to four-leaf stage with no more than two tillers. Under cool, dry conditions the addition of Select to Liberty will enhance control.

For more information contact an AgrEvo dealer or call 800-667-7862.
