New Case Steiger
A new line of high horsepower tractors was recently introduced by Case IH in Fargo, N.D., home of the Steiger tractor.
The tractors, which carry the Steiger nameplate, feature higher horsepower, stronger axles and more transmission options. The 9380 grosses 400 engine h.p.; the 9370 has 360 h.p.; the 9350 puts out 310 h.p. and the 9330 has 235 h.p. Axles have been upgraded to accommodate the higher performance requirements. Outboard planetaries are standard on the 9370 and 9380 and optional on the 9350. Heavy-duty bar axles are standard on the 9330 and 9350.

Adjustable rear axles are available on the lower h.p. row-crop specials, which can be set to 30-, 36-, 38- and 40-inch row spacings. Transmission choices include 12-speed Synchroshift for all but the 9330 model, which gets a 12-speed Powershift. When outfitted with the optional 24-speed hi-low synchroshift, the tractors have 12 speeds in the working range between five and 13 km/h. Hydraulic system pressure of up to 2,900 p.s.i. allows the tractors to handle a wider range of implements, especially potato and sugarbeet work. Weighting and ballasting has been made easier with the addition of cast suitcase weights. This allows the flexibility to run lighter during seeding and heavier during tillage.

Disease protection
ISK Bio-Science has launched a new potato fungicide pre-pack that includes Bravo 500 and Ciba’s Ridomil. The formulations are sold in a two-chambered jug that allows the liquids to be poured into the sprayer tank together. Each jug treats 3.5 acres.
The resulting tank mix offers potato growers control of early blight, both strains of late blight and botrytis vine rot in one pass.
The tank mix also reduces the incidence of tuber diseases. Bravo’s WeatherStick formulation allows the tank mix to adhere to the crop.
