Bison equipment

JK Reid Manufacturing has introduced a line of livestock handling equipment designed for bison.

The crowding tub has the safety of a 24-inch side catwalk. Roller doors on the

alley system all slide away from the catwalk and latch securely when closed, leaving it free of

obstructions. The sheet metal walls are 84 inches high.

The working chute is made of heavy steel and the sides are fully enclosed. Both sides squeeze and adjust.

Left and right hand controls are available.

High-clearance sprayer

Miller Application Technologies has introduced a new high clearance self-propelled sprayer.

The Nitro features an air flex suspension system that uses nitrogen gas accumulators in combination with leveling linkage to smooth rough terrain and give low ground pressure.

The unit can spray at a height of six feet. The spray boom is front mounted.

It has a 200 h.p. Cummins six-cylinder turbocharged and after-cooled diesel engine.

There are three shift-on-the-go power ranges with full hydrostatic control in each range and road speeds up to 30 mph.

It has Poclain narrow-profile wheel motors to provide full time four-wheel-drive.

The wheel spacing can be adjusted on the go from 105 to 152 inches.

The Nitro has 3,785 and 4,542 litre tanks for spray chemicals.

It has a John Deere 90 series cab.

Cab filter

Dutch Industries makes cab filters that screen out chemicals, pollens, anhydrous ammonia and other pollutants.

The Protect-Air filters fit in the same space that the existing dust filter is in the cab. It requires no modification of the cab.

Saskatchewan Research Council and Agriculture Canada tests show the unit removed an average of 98 percent of chemicals from the airstream.

Lagoon aerator

Aeromix Systems has introduced the Tornado aerator that reduces odor from manure lagoons.

The system provide an air cap or aerobic zone on top of lagoon; the bottom is undisturbed.

The manufacturer says University of Minnesota College of Agriculture tests showed that lagoons using the Tornado had odor levels up to 75 percent lower than lagoons not aerated.
