Non-selective herbicide

Zeneca Agro has announced the registration of Touchdown, a non-selective, systemic, post-emergent herbicide that controls quackgrass, annual weeds, Canada thistle and other perennial weeds.

Touchdown uses a salt formulation of the active ingredient glyphosate, together with an adjuvant, which aids translocation to the roots and rhizomes of the plant. Touchdown is sold in more than 50 countries worldwide and will be available to farmers this fall. Contact your local Zeneca representative or Tina Lawton or Sharon Walker, 1-800-263-8308.

VIDEO: Green Lightning and Nytro Ag win sustainability innovation award

Nytro Ag Corp and Green Lightning recieved an innovation award at Ag in Motion 2025 for the Green Lightning Nitrogen Machine, which converts atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-usable form.

AGCO Corp. launched its new line of mid-sized two- or four-wheel-drive Massey Ferguson tractors in Saskatoon recently. The 8100 and 6100 series engine, clutch, transmission, rear axle assembly and hydraulics optimize power transmission. As much as 90 percent of engine power is available as “useable power.” All models used Dynatorque dual-zone torque backup, synchronized shuttle transmission, extra-large wet clutches and 55-degree 4WD front axles. The 6150, with 86 p.t.o. horsepower is powered by a four-cylinder wastegate turbo-charged engine; the 6170, 6180 and 8120 (97, 110, and 130 p.t.o. h.p.) are powered by Perkins 100-series Quadram diesel engines; and the 8140, 8150 and 8160 (145, 160, 180 p.t.o. h.p.) have turbo-charged Valmet diesels. All models have new oil-cooled, multi-plate clutches, with varying numbers of 22.5-centimetre discs enabling heat dissipation. An integral pump supplies the oil to the clutch.

The 6100 series Speedshift transmission has 16 forward and reverse speeds, while the Dynashift transmission in the 8100 series doubles those numbers. The Datatronic II monitoring and information system allows operators to display the cost per hour of using the tractor, when fuel, labor, servicing and depreciation are entered. A comparative mode lets the operator see whether changing gears, for instance, would save money.
