Handling game guide
The Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute has developed a guidebook to help elk and bison producers design handling facilities. PAMI says knowing how these animals behave when handled by humans is critical for designing the fences, pens, squeezes, scales and chutes that go into a handling system.
The guide is based on the knowledge of elk and bison ranchers. Its 35 pages look at all the components of a variety of handling system designs.
The Rancher’s Guide to Elk and Bison Handling Facilities is available by calling PAMI at 800-567-7264, by e-mail at cjackson@pami.ca.

Also, grain truckers can log on and bid for any posted hauling contract and invoice the company electronically.
The company also plans to add other services such as personal pages where farmers can check on their own accounts and see summaries of the business they have done with Louis Dreyfus.

New tank mix
Cyanamid has received registration for a tank mix of Assert and Puma Super for use on barley.
The mix will allow for control of wild oats, group 1-resistant wild oats and wild millet in a single, post-emergent pass. The tank mix was registered for use in spring wheat and durum last year.
For information call 800-387-5073.
Fungicide registration
Zeneca Agro has received registration for Quadris flowable fungicide for use on canola to control blackleg, alternaria black spot and sclerotinia stem rot.
The company says the active ingredient, azoxystrobin, is a new class of chemistry for fungal disease control. It was derived from naturally occurring fungicides produced by species of edible, wood-decaying mushrooms. Quadris is a preventive treatment that should be applied before disease infection, usually around the time of post-emergent herbicide applications.

Dow AgroSciences has applied for registration of its glyphosate products, Vantage and Vantage Plus, for use on Roundup Ready canola.
The company said both have received favorable preliminary review and are awaiting a certificate of registration.
