Grain deck

Brandt Industries has a new high-capacity Grain Deck to provide fast gentle drive-over unloading of a variety of crops.

The unit can unload 9,000-10,000 bushels per hour thanks to its 14-inch diameter discharge tube and 32 by 117 inch collapsible hopper.

The deck is six feet by 12 feet and weighs about 2,500 pounds.

An enclosed wind guard prevents belt damage during storage.

A 20-inch, two-ply rubber belt with nylon slider back is also standard. Better belt tracking and longer transitions result in increased belt life and prevent belt flipping or folding.

New Holland tractors

New Holland has improved its 70 Series line of tractors with electro-hydraulics on all models, new controls on the Sidewinder console, optional joy stick control for front-end loader work, and dynamic front fenders.

The electro hydraulics on the 70A Series line provides in-cab flow control adjustment and timed detents, allowing the operator to program the tractor to deliver oil for a specified time.

The new heavy-duty Carraro front axle provides optional full front axle differential lock for improved pulling power. The new fenders move along with the tires during turns.

As with the 70 Series, the 70A series has units ranging from 145 to 210 p.t.o. horsepower.

New forages

Pickseed is introducing two new products in 2002.

The 2065MF alfalfa variety has superior persistence, especially into the third year.

It also shows superior re-growth, reducing the recovery period to 36-39 days from 45, depending on growing conditions.

It has higher feeding quality with a multifoliolate expression rate of more than 70 percent.

It has broad pest resistance and Wisconsin disease resistance index of 29 out of 30.

TimPro timothy has almost 10 percent higher crude protein content than conventional varieties of timothy.

It also has higher cell wall digestibility and is lower in neutral detergent fibre.

TimPro’s yield is 2.5 percent higher than the checks Richmond and Toro.

It is an early heading variety (11-14 days earlier than Climax), making it compatible with modern, multi-cut alfalfa varieties.

TimPro was jointly developed by Agriculture Canada and Pickseed.
