Air cart

Morris Industries has introduced a new three tank, 252 bushel air cart that has a larger front tank designed for fertilizer.

The ratio of 30 percent for the front end, 30 percent for the middle and 40 percent for the rear allows the air cart to apply starter fertilizer or granular inoculant with the seed while deep banding additional fertilizer in one pass.

The system handles a variety of seed sizes from canola to beans, as well as fertilizer, without changing metering wheels. The company says its patented system gives superior accuracy that reduces seed damage and input costs.

Bale wrapper

Wheat-Belt Industries of Calgary is the Prairie distributor of the Tube-Line bale wrapper ideal for bale silage.

The TL 5500 wrapper produces a continuous row of bales of a desired row length.

The unit uses two 30-inch wide rolls of plastic film and is powered by a 13.5 hp Honda engine-powered hydraulic system. It uses half as much plastic film as single bale wrappers.

The tight application of wrap, with a 55 percent stretch, eliminates air, prevents wind damage and accommodates variations in bale size and shape.

The wrapped bales become a mini-silo where material ferments to build and maintain near-maximum protein.

The wrapper can also be used to apply a light wrap of film with breathing gaps for hay bales stored outside in wet conditions. The TL 5500 comes in automatic and manual versions.

For more information contact Wheat-Belt at #1, 1936 25th Av. N.W., Calgary, Alta., T2E 6Z4 or phone 800-644-6050 or e-mail wheatbit@spots.ab.ca.
