Fusarium protection

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency has granted an emergency use registration for Folicur 432F fungicide for wheat grown in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Folicur, manufactured by Bayer CropScience, is the only fungicide proven to provide effective protection against fusarium headblight in spring, durum and winter wheat.

The PMRA only grants emergency use registrations when a disease is expected to cause significant economic, environmental and health problems, when there are no other products registered and when there is no alternative control method.

VIDEO: Green Lightning and Nytro Ag win sustainability innovation award

Nytro Ag Corp and Green Lightning recieved an innovation award at Ag in Motion 2025 for the Green Lightning Nitrogen Machine, which converts atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-usable form.

Data submitted by provincial governments showed Folicur significantly reduces fusarium infections resulting in lower deoxynivalenol, or DON, levels, fewer fusarium damaged kernels, increased thousand kernel weight and higher yields.

Folicur also has an emergency use registration to control Asian soybean rust in soybeans in Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. That registration expires Nov. 30.

Bale wrapper

Tube Line Manufacturing has developed a new series of bale wrapping machines designed to wrap round and square bales quickly and efficiently.

The X2 Balewrapper series comes in three models: the TL5500AX2 and TL5500SX2 handle round bales up to 5.5 feet in diameter and square bales as large as 3 x 3 x 5.5 feet while the TL6500AX2 handles larger bales up to seven feet in diameter.

All models are powered by a 13 horsepower Honda motor. Standard features include a reposition motor, a roller bed locking lever that allows the operator to easily switch from square bales to round bales, an improved 18-amp charging system that provides more power for lights and eliminates the need for an additional alternator, a large fuel tank and design improvements designed to make it easier to wrap and unload the last bales in a row.

The machines also feature improved setup and towing features and can be ordered with options including remote control, twin wrapping, a film shut-down switch, a night lighting package and guide rollers.
