Tree chipper

Bandit Industries, Inc. model 1400 Track Bandit is a self-propelled whole-tree chipper, which can handle trees with a diameter up to 35 centimetres (14-inches). The machine’s drive system includes a two-speed hydrostatic variable speed drive and an infinitely variable travel speed of zero to 1.3 kilometres per hour.

The track drive has a ground pressure of about six p.s.i., allowing the machines to traverse both rough and soft ground. A hydraulic knuckleboom loader allows crushed and pulled trees and limbs to be fed into the chipper. The chip discharge swivels 220 degrees, allowing chips to be broadcast over the site or in any direction. The Track Bandit can be used for clearing land, thinning plantations, removing windrows and road building.

New herbicide combo for flax

Poast FlaxMax combines Poast’s strengths on grassy weeds with a new broadleaf herbicide known as FlaxMax, which controls difficult broadleaf weeds and Canada thistle in flax crops.

FlaxMax consists of two active ingredients: clopyralid and MCPA ester. FlaxMax is being sold in a pre-pack with Poast and Merge. Two rates of application are labeled: the low rate of 0.61 litres/acre will control wild mustard, volunteer sunflowers, lamb’s quarters and spring seedlings of stinkweed, shepherd’s purse and flixweed, and provide season-long control of light infestations of Canada thistle.

The high rate of .81 L/acre is required to control a wider spectrum of broadleaf weeds including redroot pigweed, wild buckwheat, smartweed, heavier infestations of Canada thistle and top-growth control of perennial sow thistle.

FlaxMax is a systemic product that works by stopping the weed’s growth. Weeds will stay green after the herbicide is applied, but will no longer grow and compete with the crop.
