One-person calving panel
Birch Creek Enterprises is selling a one-person calving panel, designed with veterinary expertise. The panel has a manual headgate, a side panel and a detachable backgate. The headgate is easily adjusted without any tools and one bar can be quickly removed if an animal goes down. The side panel has eight removable bars to facilitate caesarean sections as well as a drop section for nursing. The backgate lifts off for easy access when working at the rear of the cow. The entire panel swings out of the way into a 90-degree corner when not in use. It is sold as a complete unit with wall mounts for $365 or as part of a 10-foot by 12-foot maternity pen for $1,100. Freight and taxes not included. The company has applied for a patent.

Heavy-duty oil
Phillips 66 has introduced Super HD 3000 SAE 15W-40, the company’s first heavy-duty motor oil produced with synthetic technology. The semi-synthetic oil is formulated to meet requirements of low-emission diesel engines, but also works in vehicles that are powered by either gas and diesel turbocharged or fuel-injected engines. The oil accommodates a wide range of operating temperatures. Its rating is CF-4/SH.
