Teat pre-dip
Alfa Laval Agri has announced its teat dip, called Della-Pretech, is now approved as a pre-dip in Canada. Patented I-Tech technology has enabled a formulation of an enhanced iodine teat dip that contains four to six parts per million of free iodine with only 0.25 percent total iodine. Only free iodine has the broad-spectrum bactericidal action necessary to protect against the pathogens that cause mastitis. With its high level of stabilized free iodine, Della-Pretech kills bacteria four to six times faster than conventional one percent iodine teat dips.

Farming Smarter near Lethbridge got a boost to its research equipment, thanks to the Alberta government’s increase in funding for research associations.
The dip, made with one percent glycerin, kills bacteria, reduces the risk of iodine residues and keeps the teats soft. It is available in four, 20, 55, 114 and 205 litre formats.

Broadleaf herbicide
Rhone-Poulenc Canada has introduced a new broadleaf herbicide for use in wheat and barley for the brown and dark brown soil zones of Alberta and Saskatchewan and the black soil zone of Alberta.
Unity controls wild buckwheat, cleavers and chickweed. It also suppresses lady’s-thumb, flixweed, green smartweed, cow cockle, hempnettle, kochia, lamb’s quarter’s, shepherd’s purse, stinkweed, volunteer canola and wild mustard. Window of application is from the two-leaf to just before the flag leaf stage.
Each pre-packaged case treats 40 acres and contains two four-litre containers of United 280 EC and four 43 gram packs of Logran 75 WG. Recropping restrictions may apply and are detailed on the product’s label.

Cart sprayer
F/S Manufacturing has introduced a new cart sprayer available in 2,800 litre tank with 18-27 metre self-leveling knee action cushion boom and 18 or 24 metre collapsible windscreens. The F/S cart is the only cart available to feature front-mounted booms.
The cart also features spray systems nozzles, in-cab electric controls, deep sump, hydraulic centrifugal pump, single axle or walking tandem, bottom fill and safety rinse tank, option of hydraulic boom lift, Micro Trac control system and aluminum booms.
