New fungicide
BASF Canada has recently received approval for aerial application of Ronilan DF, a fungicide which controls sclerotinia stem rot in canola. Ronilan has a wide application window, from 20 to 50 percent bloom. The dry formulation has been registered for two rates: 300 grams per acre and 400 g/acre. The high rate is recommended when conditions are highly favorable for sclerotinia. BASF will be conducting a mandatory certification program in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba for aerial applicators who want to apply the fungicide. Disposable coveralls
Kimberley Clark Corp. has introduced KLEENGUARD LP coveralls for agricultural pesticide applicators. The coveralls are designed to comply with personal safety standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Microfibres in the inner layer of the fabric act as a barrier to many highly toxic pesticides. By allowing air and moisture vapor to pass through and circulate inside the garment, body moisture can evaporate, keeping the wearer more comfortable. The coveralls are disposable, and available in hooded or unhooded versions.
