Fungicide registration

Bayer has received an emergency use permit for Folicur fungicide to fight fusarium head blight in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.

This is the third year for the permit in the two prairie provinces and the first for Ontario and Quebec.

Folicur is the only effective fungicide registered to protect wheat and durum from fusarium head blight.

Bourgault Industries has a new heavy duty mounted packer option for its 8810 cultivators.

The new packer wheels for the 8810 are the same ones used on the 5710 air hoe drill and 5720 air coulter drill. They are available as two-inch steel-capped wheels, two or three-inch semi-pneumatic wheels or 51/2 inch pneumatic wheels.

The pressure is adjustable from 50 to 80 pounds per wheel.

The packer system is built on Bourgault’s quick change harrow packer arm system so it can be interchanged with compatible mounted harrows.

The 8810 Culti-Drill provides contour-following capability. The contour depth is short, because support wheels are located in the centre of the frame.

The 8810’s flexibility allows the farmer to configure the unit to match field conditions. The mounted packer system is available for 10-in. spaced 8810 cultivators, in sizes from 25 to 60 feet.

For more information, contact a Bourgault dealer or write to Bourgault Industries Ltd., Box 39, St. Brieux, Sask., S0K 3V0 or visit the website at www.bourgault.com.

Round baler line

Agco’s New Idea has added a new round baler line.

The 6300 series has five models that create solid, high-density bales ranging in size from 550 to 2,200 pounds and 30 to 72 inches in diameter.

Models 6364 and 6365 have a self-contained hydraulic system that automatically wraps, disengages the drive, ejects the bale, closes the tailgate and re-engages the drive system.

The larger models feature centring augers allowing use of an extra wide pickup, stuffer fingers that help lift the crop into the bale chamber and a new hydraulically actuated slip clutch. Large gauge wheels help the pickup glide over uneven ground.

The smaller models can be operated with smaller tractors. The 6344 requires a 45-horsepower unit and the 6343 requires a 30-h.p. tractor.
