New tractors
The new powerful Challenger MT800 from Agco has models ranging from 340
to 500 gross engine horsepower.
The engines, coupled with track traction, make it possible to pull
wider tools and bigger seeding units. All are powered by Caterpillar
engines.
The MT800’s Mobil-trac system undercarriage allows the distance between
the tracks to be adjusted between 90 and 125 inches. Belts are
available in four widths from 18 to 36 inches.
The hydraulic system has 43.5 gallons per minute flow and four standard

remote circuits. An optional 59 gpm pump is also available.
Three drawbar types are available, including a novel unit that uses
hydraulic cylinders to control position or dampen the drawbar when
unpinned.
The standard tractor is equipped with a wide-swinging roller drawbar.
Tractors equipped with an optional steerable three-point hitch come
with a free-swinging drawbar that offers a swing of 28 degrees from the
centerline.
Top speed is 39.6 kilometres per hour.
An electronic management system allows the engine to communicate with
the power train for smooth shifting, optimum power management and fuel
efficiency.
The MT800 will be available this summer at Caterpillar dealers. For

Spray drift control
Loveland Industries has a new product to control drift and foaming when
using glyphosate.
Valid is used at a rate of 0.125 percent by volume, so 3.78 litres will
treat 3,028 L of spray solution.
Its Shear Guard Technology eliminates pump shear. “Polyacrylamide based
drift retardants can lose effectiveness before even reaching spray
nozzles due to pump shear,” said Brodie Blair, Canadian manager for
Loveland in a release. “Valid … allows you to avoid pump shear and
maximize spray drift reduction.”
